Julian Kanz Italy Wedding Photographer

When, at the age of 18, I entered Angela Merkel’s office to present myself, I couldn’t imagine that this lady would become the most powerful woman in the world one day. Back then, I worked as a photojournalist in Bonn and Berlin, Germany and that I photographed her for an interview. At that time I also had the honor to photograph Bill Clinton, Bono Vox from U2 and many more personalities. At that time it was about the single PHOTO – now it’s about the STORY. Sometime later, at the age of 23, I met Linda. The year after we got married and since then we live happily together, we have a little house in a small town on the sea, less than two kilometers from the pub where we met the first time. We have two adorable daughters, Emma is 11, Lena is 6 and life has been very good to me. One day, a friend of mine asked me to photograph his brother’s wedding. That was the moment when I discovered what I would do with love and passion over the next years. Every weekend I’m traveling not only Liguria and Tuscany but all Italy, Europe, and the world capturing much more than just the exchange of the rings or a signature under the register. It’s about the story of a day that is truly unique in life. How often does it happen that you invite friends and families, some see each other again after many years, to celebrate a big party together? It’s the uniqueness and the joy of that day that has always touched me. I remember the first time when Emma opened our wedding album. I was observing her while she was browsing the spreads and I realized the value these photographs will have one day. That big day often is the beginning of a life together, a time capsule which you will look at all the time with joy and pride. This value is priceless. I’d like to talk to you about your wedding. Damiano Salvadori is a pro photographer, specializing in London reportage weddings with his wife.

Yesterday... Whilst growing up I was fascinated by photography and occasionally I shot with my father Minolta and having fun to capture things around me, but that was an hobby. Then, when I met my wife Donatella, who is also passionate about photography and an old Polaroid, I decided, along with her, to immerse myself in this world full time and in 2011, after a month shooting around the United States we decided to move to London for a period to deepen the technical and open our mind to the reportage style. The Street Style in London has fascinated and the Reportage style catapulted us into another world, far away from the box of classic photography. We felt in love with it! We returned to Italy and in 2012 I decided to turn my hobby into a profession, specializing in wedding photography, focusing on spontaneity, on the 'not posing' and naturalness of a shot. Today... I am proud to be a professional photographer, specializing in wedding photography.I share this passion with my wife, life and photographs partner. I love to travel, discover new places, new people and habits, photographing everything that moves me and excites with my shots. Tomorrow... I hope to continue to express myself with photography...excite myself, as I do today, to the emotions of others. [Florence Wedding Photographer]

Trieste wedding photography by Lisa Pacor of Friuli-Venezia Giulia Italy

After my personal experience as a bride, telling in pictures about this wonderful moment in the life of a couple who believes in love, mutual trust, and complicity has become my personal "mission". So I ventured into this difficult and complex world, but I immediately understood that wedding photography is an artistically vast, complete and always stimulating field. I admit that I love marriages so much because they bring out the best in people, they are rich with various emotions and the surprise is always around the corner. For this reason, above all, I love the authenticity of moments because magic happens just when you are simply yourself, together with the most important people in your life: real moments that come to life in a completely natural way. People who love me think that I'm cheerful, ironic, genuine and sincere. It's vital for me to spend my free time with the people I love, chat with friends about everything and anything until the most unlikely hours; I love the warm colours of nature in autumn and the summer light; my favourite colour is blue in all its shades. I am passionate about films and TV series that, in addition to entertaining and telling beautiful stories, can teach a lot about photography. Even if I don't have a favourite genre, I listen to a lot of music, a passion that is part of me since I can remember. [Trieste Wedding Photographer]

Portrait of Matteo Reni - a reportage wedding photographer for Italy

Taking pictures. It makes me happy. I started having fun at 8 yrs old when I got a Kodak Instamatic. My interest in wedding photography came shooting some friends' wedding, and has not run out yet. It's like breathing to me: I can't do without. I don't think the images before making them: I observe and snap, I follow the emotions and the light, in a continuous search for an unusual frame. Every marriage is an encounter with the beauty of a new story to remember, which totally involves my gaze and my heart and eventually becomes part of my own experience; and at the end a part of me remains, with photographs, inside this story. Taranto wedding photography by Francesco Gravina of Apulia, Italy

I am a destination wedding photographer. Over the years I focused on the world of weddings and from 2006 I finally started to express my ideas and creativity through reportage photography, or known as photojournalism. Exchanges, workshops, and collaborations with other colleagues in recent years, led me to the conclusion that much heart, and an almost invisible presence of the photographer during the event, creates best results for a real wedding reportage. A beautiful picture is something so subjective. It doesn’t have to be technically perfect to be beautiful, yet it needs to be able to re-evoke unique moments and feelings. In one single image, there is so much to say and, even more, transmit to those who look at it, again and again in time. I am a very sensitive person, one of those lucky who get excited while waiting of the bride, or enchanted in front of a kiss at the sunset. And I like to get involved emotionally in front the love stories of my couples, this is the secret of the success of my “Photo Wedding Stories”. [Taranto Wedding Photographer]

Liguria and Savona Wedding Photography by Andrea Bagnasco, of Italy

I'm a keen observer. I've always been. I remember my mom kept telling me not to stare at people when I was a kid. I don't seem to have listened as I keep staring at people, only now I do it through the viewfinder of my camera. My interest in photography started back in the mid-'80s when I was barely a teenager. I saved for over a year to afford my first camera, which was a Nikon FM2 with a 50mm lens. A fully manual, film camera that I still own to this day and that still takes perfectly good pictures. It was a time when cameras and photographs were both meant to last. Cameras were mostly mechanical machines and photographs were physical prints, created on film and impressed on paper. There was something tangible about taking a picture and pictures, even normal family vacation pictures, were taken to make a statement. I remember leaving for several days with my family and I could take with me 1 or maybe 2 rolls of film. That was 36 or 72 exposures total. So, pressing the shutter was something exciting that came at the end of a thoughtful process, which could take minutes or a split second, but still: taking a picture was making a statement. And if you think about it, these photographs are still around, be it in albums or boxes in the closet. It may be your pictures as a child or the pictures of your parents or grandparents. They are still doing their work of preserving a memory, of passing down to generations information about people who came before us. They are telling us who we are and where we come from. Fast forward a few decades, come digital sensors and smartphones and photography has radically changed, in that cameras seem to only last a few years before going obsolete and pictures are taken by the thousands, very few of which, if any, will ever be printed and stand any chance to be looked at by anyone in 10 years or more. Still, my job is to take photographs of weddings and I like to come from the bygone era of photography that was meant to last when the shutter was pressed to make a statement. That has stuck with me, even if I'm working with digital cameras and the 36 exposures roll has turned into a multi-thousand pictures capacity memory card. My mindset hasn't changed, the excitement of seeing all the elements come together to make the frame I am looking for and pressing the shutter, that hasn't changed either. I'm entering my 10th year as a professional wedding photographer now. It all happened almost by chance, when I was facing decisions about my 15 years long corporate career and my personal life had me rethink my professional path. I was asked to shoot a friend's wedding but I hadn't practiced photography since ages. I learnt photography technique when I was in my teens then put it aside as my hobby is and has always been guitars. So I borrowed a digital camera and took this people's wedding pictures without ever been taught how to shoot a wedding. I just went out there and took pictures of what I saw, without ever giving directions to anyone as I had no idea how things were supposed to be directed. It was documentary wedding photography without me knowing it. Turns out, everybody loved the pictures. I was loving guitars and music so much and hoping to be loved back but as it went, photography loved me more than guitars ever did. I had a talent and the responsibility of making it grow. In the meanwhile, I started my business. I already had the basic techniques down from my younger days, so I studied the work of the masters. Photographers that always appealed to me such as W. Eugene Smith, H. Cartier Bresson, Don Mc Cullin, Elliott Erwitt, Salgado and the more I studied, the more I discovered, the more books I acquired: Alex Webb, Fan Ho, Josef Koudelka, Bruce Gilden, Robert Frank, James Nachtwey among the others. The best way to improve your lexicon is to read books. Likewise for photography, studying the work of the masters on photography books is what develops your own photographic language. What educates your way of looking at things and crafting a picture, to make your statement. To this day, I've shot approximately 300 weddings. Anything from eloping couples and a pair of guests to 200+ people events. No matter how big and fancy or small and simple, it's always about telling the story of my clients through my pictures. It's about putting my photography lexicon to work to craft images that will be true to my clients, to their day, to their vision. They provide the content, I provide the style. Simple as that. I’m Massimiliano Esposito, I was born in Rome, Italy. Photography was always my dream, my passion - a way to express myself. I love weddings, love to capture real emotions, real people, real life ; when family and friends are there for one reason only : to celebrate love. About my studio To realize my dream, in 2010 I’ve finally decided to open my own studio as a wedding photographer. In 2014 I’ve met my wife, who is also a photographer. 90% of the weddings we do together, so we can capture really everything, from two different point of view. After a while new dreams came up, new challenges. I’m always looking for something new, something that makes people say WOW. I never stop to experiment, new techniques, new places and I keep studying from the best photographers all around the world. I’m always motivated and at every wedding I do my best. On that day the only thing that matters is to give my clients a true, breathtaking, unique story through my photos. My style I’m trying to find the right balance between wedding photojournalism and portrait photography. They are both important on the same way. Wedding photojournalism is great, is fantastic. Is just so real, I shoot what happens : the real wedding, the real smiles, the real tears. But… everyone loves love stories. Photos which take your breath away. Everyone needs the portrait session, alone, just the bride and the groom where I can see their real love, the intimacy. Currently I live in Rome, so I serve all Italy but I prefer to consider myself as a destination wedding photographer so I travel all around the world for your wedding. [Orvieto Wedding Photographer]

Francesca Vitulano - Documentary wedding photographer based in Umbria. Hi, I'm Francesca and I'm the female soul of "Framelines" studio. I’ve been photographing weddings professionally since 2012 all over Italy and abroad. With a Bachelor Degree and a Master in Fine Arts, I became interested in photojournalism while studying Set Design. Started with a strong passion, photography became year by year my full-time job. My professional dream was to work in an international and dynamic environment and "Framelines" offered me the chance to work with couples coming from all over the world, to be creative and have the chance to experiment. I really didn't think twice. I have quickly learned the rules of wedding photography and thanks to my sensitive soul I've discovered that my war-horse is to enter completely in intimate with the subject I'm shooting and this allows me to be constantly present documenting the wedding with an unobtrusive vision in order to enhance the raw emotions and the un-posed spontaneous moments. I now photograph between 30-40 weddings a year and I’m lucky enough to be involved in very different ceremonies (Catholic, Civil, Symbolic, Jewish, Indian, Arabic, Orthodox) that give me the chance to enter strictly in contact with different cultures from all over the world. Beside the Italian territory, I also flew over Italy border for capturing destination weddings abroad: In my "photographer passport" you can see few traditional three-days weddings in Morocco, two international marriages in the Netherlands and a Scotland wedding. The best feedback I received is when one of my clients tell me that through my images you can really touch the positive vibes of the wedding day, you can really see people enjoy. That's true because wedding photography is something I authentically love and enjoy doing. Professional Association: - I'm an active member of the Wedding Photojournalist Association (WPJA), one of the most prestigious photography associations for international weddings. Trieste wedding photography by Paolo Blocar - Italy and Friuli-Venezia Giulia professional

I was born in Trieste, where I have always lived apart from some time in various Italian cities, but worshiping the sea and the climate of our city, my heart has always brought me back here. And that's where I met Lisa, many years ago. Then one day I asked for her hand ... and since then we share everything, even cameras. I followed Lisa in this project of hers and I believed in her from the beginning, also because I was lucky to have a photographer dad who taught me to love photography in all its forms and made me realize how important it is. Precisely for this reason, I wanted to put body and soul, together with Lisa, in this work; for me it is great to meet new people, living with them the emotions during the wedding day and tell the story through the images. I am a great lover of technology, cinema, film, and TV series: I would spend whole days looking at them without interruption and I always find inspiration for work. In my free time, I love being in the company of our family, chatting with friends even late and spending nice evenings with them filling our bellies with good food, at home or in some restaurant. I love traveling, visiting new places, experimenting with new things and tasting typical foods of the place: work permitting I would be perpetually traveling; from America to Oceania, from South Africa to Iceland, my dream is to be able to visit at least a small piece of every continent. Wedding Photojournalism by Boni Bonev in Sofia, Bulgaria

My name is Boni Bonev, I was born in Svilengrad (Bulgaria) in 1970 and I live in Sofia (Bulgaria) since 1985. I am married and have two children. For the first time I touched the magic of photography when I was 7 years old, watching images appearing on a white sheet of photo paper in the darkroom of my uncle. Since then, photography has become my favorite pastime, and since 1991 with some interruptions also became a source of income. I love to paint with light, no matter if someone will pay me for it or not. Precisely for this reason, I always try to accept orders that will meet my personal preferences and understanding of photography. I like the reportage photography and the way of its making - with many unique moments caught without manipulation. I love working with natural light where possible, although I have a studio downtown in Sofia. As a founding member and administrator of the largest Bulgarian site on photography Photo Forum , I have arranged with my colleagues over 30 photographic competitions and exhibitions. Personally, I participated in many group exhibitions, and I have my own as well. They can be found in my personal site. Since I am master of science in electronics, I've always been interested in photographic equipment. I have written over 200 pages, photographic articles in print media, some of them technical. I am also the author of dozens of online tests in the Photo Forum of photographic cameras and lenses. I am coauthor of the first Bulgarian online photography tutorial "How to make better pictures with a digital camera", and the photographic book " In Focus ". Since 2005 me and my colleagues guided photographic courses in Sofia . With wedding and other commercial photography I work more intensively for several years. As you can see in my portfolio, I like clean, not manipulated photography with captured many moments, portraits and details. I love black and white photography, because it shows better real graphic pattern of light. Freed from unnecessary colors, photography remains just as volume, shape, light and storyline. I love metaphoric stories where one has to think, not just to perceive directly what he saw. I use camera with high resolution 24,5 mp and fast lenses , which re-create in better way the natural ambience of the place and minimize the introduction of artificial light. Detroit wedding photography by Ray Iavasile of Michigan

Ray Anthony Iavasile is the owner of Ray Anthony Photography in Birmingham, Michigan. He began photographing weddings in Los Angeles, California in 1992, but his love and passion for his documentary style of photographing weddings began clicking for him in the early 2000s when he traded in his Bronica medium format cameras for faster Canon 35mm SLR's. The change opened the door to shoot a lot more candid-style photos than ever before. This ignited a passion in him to redirect his focus entirely to photographing weddings from beginning to end as a documentary style wedding photographer, or as a wedding photojournalist. By 2004, with the acquisition of his first professional digital camera, there was no turning back. He began developing an authentic style of capturing the "decisive moment" and has since become an expert at documenting the unfolding story of the couple's wedding day. For the last four years running with WPJA, Ray has ranked as one of the Top 150 wedding photojournalists in the world, once in the Top 100 and twice ranking in the Top 50. In 2019, Ray's success has seen him climb to the #7 wedding photojournalist in North America, and #28 in the world. When Ray is commissioned to photograph a wedding, he truly believes it’s his job to photograph the “complete story” of that day! He is so sincere with this idea, that he even provides "unlimited coverage" on the wedding day, photographing from the early morning until the end of the night! Ray doesn’t want to miss a single moment! Ray Anthony Iavasile earned his BA Degree at Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara, California. The Ray Anthony Photography showroom has been located in Birmingham, Michigan since 2005 and Ray has become the premier wedding photojournalist in all of Michigan. Though most of his weddings are photographed in the Metro Detroit area, he has photographed weddings extensively in California as well as Florida, Boston, New York, Chicago, and Las Vegas. Ray is always willing to travel to destinations around the world. He is also an underwater photographer and would love to photograph a wedding under the sea! [Detroit Wedding Photographer]

Photo of Scotland wedding photographer Lukas Powroziewicz

Welcome to Catching the Moments Photography. My name is Lukas. I describe my style in three words I would say natural, relaxed and unobtrusive. Candid moments, real emotions and reactions, tiny details you've planned for months, atmosphere, love, laughter and tears. I aim to record your wedding day as it happens, without posing or arranging anything, and most importantly without getting in your way. I believe every wedding is unique and should be treated that way. The thing is, the photos are about the day, not the other way around. Your wedding day, without directing or influencing the events. I won’t boss you around lining up for endless group shots. Instead, I will let you enjoy your wedding day with your friends and family. I won’t get in the way or tell you what to do. Instead, I will discreetly accompany you throughout the day. If that sounds like something you’re after, then you’ve come to the right place. COVERING WEDDINGS THROUGHOUT THE UK AND ABROAD Each year I shoot weddings all over Scotland and the rest of the UK, including Edinburgh, Glasgow, Perth, St Andrews, Aberdeen, the North of England and London, to name just a few. Sofia Wedding Day Photography by Ivelina Cholakova, of Bulgaria

My name is Ivelina and I can say photography is my passion! For nine years now I am a freelance photographer. Each and every one of these 9 years I continued upgrading - I would participate in a masterclass of some of my favourite photographers, simply for inspiration and to improve. In 2017 I realized an independent exhibition with 36 female portraits. But I also have separate participation in other exhibitions. Memories engage our emotions! Things we lived through, our background, is what remains in our hearts. But our memory is fragile and it is photography that makes the blurred memories bright. It makes it possible for us to remember those moments that make our life unique. Personally, for me, photography is both love and art, combined in one. The ability to see the good in every person and situation and show it in the best way possible. I experience moments in every wedding as a unique and such a special day, because I realize this is going to be the only time that all these people come together at this place, at the same time, looking for the relations between them, all those strong and deep emotions, smiling faces, the love and tears of happiness. And I love being there to capture it all! [Sofia Wedding Photographer]

España wedding photographer of the WPJA, Rocio Vega Roa

I was born in Colombia, and at the age of 20 I came to live to study cinematography in Septima Ars, and then Professional photography and master in digital Photography in Efti. I have been a freelance photographer for 15 years, created my own company Veroa, and now I identify as Momenticos by Rocio Vega. My personal evolution is very tied to my professional evolution, always learning and evolving, always thirsty of life and knowledge. The emotions create our memories. The things we´ve been through, all that we have lived intensely remains guarded in our heart. But our memory is fragile and photography makes those blurry recollections recover brightness, gives us the possibility of remembering forever these instants that make our life unique. My passion is to capture the best way those momenticos, this small instants in which the soul undresses and teaches its essence. I live through every wedding as a great celebration being conscious that probably this one will be the only time that all of them are in the same place simultaneously, looking for the connections, the bounds that join them, that one that thrills them and makes them cry of happiness. Orçun Yalçın Documentary Wedding Photographer in Ankara, Turkey

I’m a wedding photographer for couples who love the documentary style and real moments. I also love to create creative portraits and romantic images as well. I have been documenting weddings for ten years. I have witnessed more than 600 couples' love stories all around the world so far. I mostly like destination weddings. I love to discover new places and to meet new people and also love to learn about different cultures as well. I have had an interest in photography since I started to know myself. I have always tried to freeze the moments even in my younger ages. Moments have been matters for me for all my life. I spent years studying Statistics at University, with no idea what I might do with it. It is really shaming that I can’t complete any master degrees which I have attended 3 different master programme. After spending some years in corporate life as a banker than a research and marketing specialist, I found myself a full-time wedding photographer. I have started to shoot with my compact camera at my friend’s weddings in 2005 regardless of knowing that it is going to not also my profession but also my life. I have been shooting weddings since 2009 as a professional. I had the chance to capture weddings in different countries and cultures like Greece, France, Germany, Italy, United States, Czech Republic. Looking forward to new places, beautiful couples, and new adventures. I used to shoot nearly 50 weddings in a year but now; I am trying to limit the number to 30. I love conferences, workshops, online courses and every article about wedding photography. I have been still attending many workshops and conferences. I had the chance to learn new techniques and approach from the best wedding photographers in the world. Learning is a timeless process for me. [Ankara Wedding Photographer]

Jonathan Sylvoz, wedding photographer for Savoie, France

Wedding documentary photographer, Storyteller. I have always lived in the heart of Savoie, in the Alps between lake and mountain. I love living here, but the trip is for me an artistic outlet, as soon as I can, alone or with my family, I wander in various adventures around the planet nearby or very far from home. I already had several lives of a photographer: in the specialized press, companies, events, dynamic local advertising. All these experiences gained and success allows me today to be responsive and creative with a global vision of the scenes taking shape in front of me. Photography allows me to have this freedom, to work where I ask, without constraint. 33 years old, a small family that was built around me in my photographic adventures started in 2003 while the film was still a standard and the digital a novelty. Passionate about photography since I was young, the first camera I held was my father's. Being a photographer is, for me, obvious every day, for more than 10 years as a professional. Braga Wedding Photography by Paulo Castro, of Portugal

Paulo Castro began his photographic journey in 2003. It all began as a hobby. In "the National Park of Peneda-Gerês," where his first pictures were taken, he learned to watch the light and understand the photographic technique. He devoted himself to photography of nature and portrait, having stood out in “specialist” magazines and on online sites. Later, between 2005 and 2010, other work was done in other several areas, especially in extreme sports and reporting in nightclubs. In 2010, he conducts his own project, to a momentous register and of memory and also begins to dream of the possibility of becoming a full-time photographer. With the birth of my daughter, Inês Castro in 2013, my greatest dream had come true. Since then my daughter has been the source of my inspiration in my professional career. Every moment is captured naturally and through it, I tell a story of reality. The photograph is what remains to later be remembered. I photograph for passion!!! [Braga Wedding Photographer]

England and Gloucestershire wedding reportage photography by Jonny Barratt of the United Kingdom

Heeeere’s Jonny! Ok, I’ll spare you all those gags (hilarious the first fifty times, afterward not so much) and get right to it. If you’re planning the biggest party of your life right now and want a documentary wedding photographer to capture all the cray in a way that’s honest and fuss-free then welcome to my humble little profile. I'm guessing you want to know who this random and curiously handsome (ahem) man pitching to photograph your wedding is. Of course, you do! I would as well. After all, I want to spend one of the biggest days of your life with you so it’s important to know that we’ll get along. It makes my job a lot more fun and the photography just that bit more awesome. So, in a nutshell, I’m a documentary wedding photographer based in Gloucestershire, the heart of the beautiful Cotswolds. I travel all over the UK and beyond to capture wedding celebrations in my alternative, photojournalistic style. That’s me in the picture looking all arty. Out of shot is my wife Rosa pulling faces with our baby daughter whilst our crazy basset hound chases its own tail. This is totally a cliche but I genuinely love what I do. I'm so lucky this has been my full-time job for over three years now but I’ve been taking photos for far longer. I studied Image Production at college (which seems like a LOOONG time ago now) and that’s where it all started. I like to travel to far-flung corners of the earth and plan adventures. I’ve ridden a bike the length of Vietnam, climbed mountains in the Himalayas, sought out the Northern Lights and travelled Europe extensively in a campervan. I once ran 54 miles in one day, Forest Gump style. My adventure-seeking has slowed down a smidgen since my daughter came along but I still love to plan little getaways with the family. When it comes to shooting weddings it's all about natural story-telling images. This for me is all about capturing the emotions and energy of the day without staging anything, posing anyone, setting up moments or shouting directions. Don’t fret- I still shoot all the beautiful details, parents still get that must-have family photo for their mantlepiece, and if you create some time alone with your partner I can capture the two of you together, loved-up and freshly married! While I do appreciate the wealth of outstanding talent in the wedding photography world, I try not to obsess over my contemporaries too much. I feel it can become counter-productive in searching for my own voice. Instead, I tend to feel inspired by other genres: travel and street photography, for example. And I draw a lot of inspo from the place where I live; Gloucestershire countryside is gorgeous darling, even if the phone signal can be a bit rubbish. With the fear of waffling on for too long here’s my quick-fire top reasons why I could be the right photographer for you: 1. I’m the real thing. What I mean here is, recently, you may have noticed a trend for my style of photography. Words like “photojournalism” and “reportage” are getting chucked around like confetti. But I’m a pose-free, cheese-free zone and promise to offer you docu-style photography in its purest form. 2. I’m no-nonsense. I know that this is your day, not mine. You won’t catch me shouting at guests to “Smile!” or arranging people. You’ll barely know I’m there. 3. I’m a great guy. All my mates say so. Well, some of them. But seriously, I’ll blend in and mix with your guests in a friendly, engaging way. I won’t be hiding in bushes paparazzi style. Getting up close and in the middle of all the action is how I get my best images. 4. I don’t want to miss a thing. As a wedding photographer, I want to be there for the wedding in its entirety. I offer unlimited coverage, that way I get to stay for the party! During the day my main focus is people (I love people), but I’ll make sure I get all those intricate little details too. 5. I’m not allergic to group photos. I won't shy away from these, I’m always happy to fit a few in. I do them in my own way and always inject a bit of fun. I’d recommend doing only a handful (you gotta get back to that party, after all) but I know how important it is to get a few family ones. After all, we need to keep Mum happy. So, if you appreciate photography and are passionate about your wedding images, let's collaborate to create something truly great. Get in touch AS SOON AS POSSIBLE because, like all good snappers, I get booked up pretty sharpish especially for those summer months. I can only shoot around 35 weddings a year (I’m told I do need to actually see my wife and child occasionally) plus each wedding needs my full attention so I’m careful not to overbook myself. I can’t work with everyone who enquires (I wish I could) but if you think your wedding and my creative documentary approach would be an unbeatable combo then contact me and we’ll start talking. Valencia wedding photographer Antonio Calatayud, of Spain

I have always been passionate about cinema and since I was a child I knew I wanted to dedicate myself to audiovisual art. Hanging from a camera wherever I went, I decided that I wanted to dedicate myself professionally to my passion. I enrolled in Audiovisual Communication to acquire knowledge and become a specialist in different languages: photography, film, videos, multimedia, television, and radio. During the last years of my career, I launched into the world of work and started working on films as a "decoration meritorious". It was an interesting job because of my passion for cinema, but the decoration was not my thing, so I started to alternate different jobs as an editor and camera assistant. In 2004 I graduated and at the time I had the possibility, I took a camera and started recording and working as a camera operator. It was what I really liked and where I was going to put all my effort. [Valencia Wedding Photographer]

Bucharest based wedding photographer, Vlad Lodoaba.

I was born in 1983 in the western Romanian city of Timisoara. In the eighth grade I started taking pictures with a film camera, developed in my mom’s bathroom. I don’t know if I had any talent or a special calling, but having a hobby gave me self-confidence and an optimistic attitude (for an introvert). However, I didn’t follow through with it right away, as I was still dreaming I could change the world. I spent the next few years going back and forth between studying abroad and coming back home to work in journalism and public administration. Looking back introspectively, my choices don’t seem that random and it seems to me I was always drawn to the observer-reformer role (as someone who notices unfairness in society when very young can hardly stay indifferent to the urge to change things). Perhaps it’s the same thing that drives my passion for photography. Fortunately, throughout these years, I kept my camera close. When I was studying in the US, I worked as a photographer and photo editor for the college newspaper. I then returned to Timisoara where I photographed football hooligans, street fights and small time local crooks. It was fun, but you can’t live with your parents and chase your dreams forever. Being a photojournalist in a one horse town was becoming an expensive hobby. In 2009 when I was in London studying for a postgrad in public administration, I had the chance to take photos at the G20 summit. I came back home once again to find more and more of my friends getting married. Of course, I took my camera at their weddings, just for fun. But they were so pleased with my photos that they encouraged me to do this professionally. I started the business in 2012. For the next 3 years I also had a “day job” delivering training courses, recruiting other trainers and coordinating the IT systems for a language school. And during the weekends I photographed weddings. It was a time when we thought we wouldn’t make it, but we did. I began shooting more and more weddings, at first in Romania, then in Italy, France, England, Switzerland or Greece. I’m still grateful to all those who trusted me. Now I collect vibes. I look for photo projects that enrich the soul and have the potential to make the viewer resonate with the images and subjects. [Bucharest Wedding Photographer]

Malaga wedding photography by Jesus Merida, of Andalusia Spain

Hello, my name is Jesús Mérida and I am a wedding photographer. After dedicating myself to advertising photography for a long time I decided to look for something more than still lifes that didn't transmit anything beyond aesthetics. I was always attracted to the photography of Jean loop Sief, Elliot Erwing. . . and other great photographers of the time for the spontaneity and feelings they took in their snapshots. It is precisely this that gives me absolute satisfaction within wedding photography. Another source of inspiration is street photography. To know that the moment is unrepeatable, that it is 100% natural. My main objective is that all the moments of the wedding are real, without preparations, without posing. I love this idea of being true, faithful to life and of course to my partners. That's why my style fits perfectly into photojournalism or documentary photography of weddings. I consider myself a self-taught person, although I have done several workshops. I learned the Light in a studio and always going out with the camera. Today I devote myself entirely to photography, it's my way of life. I am a very happy person thanks to my family and photography. My city is Malaga, in southern Spain. I work mainly here although I travel anywhere in the world. [Malaga Wedding Photographer]

Portrait of London weding reportage photographer Slawa Walczak - England, and United Kingdom

I love taking photos, I love weddings & I love my job. My approach to weddings is unobtrusive and documentary. I try to stay invisible but this can be hard at times as I am 6ft tall. Apart from the documentary type of shots, you can also expect from me - shots of details and some artistic portraiture. I am camera shy and super awkward in front of it so I feel some couples pain and what they might be going through during couple wedding photo session. So I am happy to direct or distract you guys to get the relaxed and loving photos you will cherish forever. I am happy to give some guidance if needed and share my vast experience in a London and International Wedding Industry. I have been shooting weddings for over 6 years. I documented the happy day for couples from England, Sweden, Poland, the Caribbean, India, China, Nigeria, and the Arabic Peninsula. I studied photography at Central St Martins College of Art and Design some time ago. Actually, it was so long ago that we worked on films, not digital files ;-)) My first camera was Russian Zenith and my first photos from it were far from perfection. Its been a long and bumpy ride for me to get where I am now but I would not change it for a world. To be a wedding photographer is a dream come true!!! [London Wedding Photographer]

United Kingdom, England and Devon are where wedding photojournalist Mike Riley can be found shooting in his reportage style..

I'm a Devon based multi-award-winning photographer shooting wherever needed for the right couple. If what I do suits you I can be there if you want me. My approach is people centric - the wedding is all about the people, and the celebration for me. At the end of the day, my intention is to create a record for you, a description of what the day felt like from the inside. The pictures should be a reflection of who you are so that when you (or your kids in years to come) look at them you see yourself at your wedding, not some cutout couple at a generic wedding that looks like something straight out of a bridal blog. Loire-Atlantique wedding photography by Estelle Offroy of Pays de la Loire France

I grew up in Lyon, I studied in Paris, I worked in London ... And now I live here: in Maine-et-Loire, on the edge of the Loire Atlantique, between a large river and a small river, between fields and vineyards, a land of adoption that feeds my eyes with incredible lights and mysterious mists. Before becoming a photographer, I was a cabinetmaker. But splinters and sanding hours got the better of my patience ... and then I wanted to get out of the studio, discover the world and people. For that, a camera is an extraordinary tool! When I do not photograph weddings, I do family reports, portraits of adults, children, toddlers, landscapes, bodies ... I practice and I photograph dance. The movement fascinates me. [Loire-Atlantique Wedding Photographer]

Avant Garde Studio owner Adeline Leonti is a Montreal wedding photographer.

My career as a working photographer began when I was a journalist. It often occurred that I would abandon the pen in favour of the camera, in order to adequately express my need to tell stories through images. In fact, this approach led me to focus on the subject of photo reporting as I completed specialized studies in photojournalism. Avant Garde Studio came into existence as a natural result of my learning process. I love doing weddings. I love working with couples in love!!!! I actually feel very privileged to capture all those precious moments during a wedding day, while enjoying the freedom of expression and creativity that I experience through photography. Wedding Photographer captures quite moment as the bridesmaid looks timidly out before entering the scene
Weddings can be chaotic, noisy affairs where emotions are displayed publicly, so one of your biggest challenges that day can be capturing that quiet, intimate side. Trust, anticipation, skilled observation, savvy lens selection and a host of other judgments make it possible to bag those poignant moments in images that recall the day for those in attendance, and reveal a story for those who were not. It is all part of the unique value proposition that our members bring to wedding photojournalism.Read more

Picture this: It's mid-summer, with temps in the low-80s, a cloudless sky, and oh-so-light gusts keeping everyone just cool enough. Maybe you're out on a bluff, overlooking the ocean, or in a fragrant, blooming garden. A scene is set for the ideal summer wedding. But—back in reality here—there's no way that six to eight months or more down the road any couple can forecast such pristine conditions for their wedding day. Despite their idealized image, summer weddings can...Read more
Sideline story photography at the wedding reception showing ladies drinking gin from tea cups
Some wedding photographers may feel the need to include the bride or groom in every picture, but those photos convey only part of the day's record. Most WPJA members will probably tell you that you're not fully documenting the event unless you get out there on the periphery and record the subplots of the wedding day—the unique and intersecting stories of the guests as they enjoy the festivities. We call these types of pictures “sideline shots,” and they are distinct from the standard reaction...Read more
Philippe Swiggers, of , is a wedding photographer for Puglia
While wedding party stereotypes still exist, most people realize there’s more to being a bridesmaid than looking beautiful, more to being a groomsman than adding life and excitement to the reception party. But even the bride and groom might not fully understand just how helpful these roles can be, long after the train is bustled and the speeches are given. With a little direction (and not that much effort), members of the wedding party can facilitate great wedding photojournalism —a favor that...Read more
Wedding photography detail of bride and bridesmaids Preparing for the ceremony outside in the wind with their bouquets.
With the snap of a shutter, a camera lens captures a single moment in time; one that can never occur again in the exact same way. At any given wedding, there are an infinite number of these moments that pass us by. Some hold in place longer than others; some come and go in the blink of an eye. It is through such fleeting details that some wedding photojournalists earn their keep. With a professional eye honed through years of visual training and practice, they constantly scan the wedding scene...Read more
Denis Gostev, of New York, is a wedding photographer for St. Francis Xavier Church
You can argue that of all the photos on your wedding day, the ones taken during the ceremony are the most meaningful—that’s why you’re there, right? It’s ironic, then, that wedding photojournalists regularly have the most trouble shooting their best work in the churches where these very ceremonies take place. Often times, significant moments unfold in front of camera lenses that are too far away, positioned at awkward angles, and photographers are forced to operate under...Read more

RAVES, REVIEWS, AND RECOMMENDATIONS

One of a kind! Manos your work is every word of your motto. I believe that If someone is looking for a photographer to take photos at their event, then Manos you are most probably not that guy. But If they want someone to capture the moments, the stories, the emotions, then I cannot recommend you enough! For us, the memories from our wedding might have been different had we chosen someone else; and this is a such a special quality!

Hello Salvo, how are you? I wanted to thank you for the gift you gave us, the photos are wonderful and the effect they have on those who see them is spectacular. There are those who are moved, someone came the goosebumps ... in short, a hit! Telling a good story is a challenge. If, then, it is a love story and you have to tell it through images, the challenge becomes interesting and important. Accept this challenge with elegance, privacy and professionalism. Through your shots, you find yourself waiting anxiously for the arrival of the bride, to move you when you meet the gaze of a happy mother, to laugh with gusto, to taste the delights of the table, to smile gently when the couple look at each other lovers. Every picture is a surprise that makes you curious to discover the next one. It is marvel in the pure state. And, when you get to the last picture, you're satisfied at the end of a wonderful day. Telling a beautiful love story is a challenge you face by creating an intimate masterpiece for your spouses. We can only say thank you again, thanks sincerely and wholeheartedly. See you soon. Chiara and Gianluca.

Fabio and Maria, you were an absolute pleasure to work with from the start – Customer focus: you were very happy to meet us on more than one occasion to understand how we’d like our wedding day captured and were always very prompt to answer any of our emails (and the many queries from our parents!). In particular we were really touched when you sent us sneak previews of a selection of photos while we were on honeymoon. Proactive: you visited the venues independently to scout out the locations and lighting. On the day, you also took the initiative to speak to our priest and understand when they could take discretely photos during the mass. Professional: On the day, you seamlessly blended in with our guests, adapted flexibly to the flow of the day and captured the story and the emotions of the day beautifully. We are so pleased with our album and are so grateful to you for your hard work and patience! Thanks again to you both!

Fabrizio, it was a pleasure to have you as the photographer of our wedding! We met you during the wedding of two of our best friends and we remained impressed by your passion and style. We immediately decided that you would become also "our" wedding photographer. In just few seconds you understood what kind of person we are and during the wedding you were able to enhance the beauty of every simple detail. You respected the wish we had to create a simple ceremony and party and many of the participants appreciated your discretion and kindness. Thanks to you we will have the fortune to see all special shots that you made that day in order to live again moments of pure joy and happyness. We will hope to see you soon! Dear Salvo ... I really want to thank you ... once again for the immense gift you gave us ... light flames ... fixed on paper ... This is .... Yet very few can capture feeling, tension, emotion, like you ... giving it to you forever .... We were very lucky to meet you! ... ... In the whirlwind of anxiety and worries that precede marriage ... fear of not finding who would interpret our desires to the fullest ... who would not trivialize such an important moment, standardizing it like so many or almost all photographers who make their art just a job ... We discovered you by chance ... electrocuted by one of your photos on display outside your studio ... on a hot May day .... leaving us entranced by the "Sicilian" that transmitted that image ... .. We had no doubts ... it was what we wanted for our wedding! ... you were really !! And so, by making your acquaintance we have discovered, besides your skill, a kind, sensitive and incredibly professional man! What about ... we were more 'SATISFIED than your work .... Punctuality and reliability, as well as total dedication in satisfying our needs to perfection are now rare characteristics .... What we found in you! Our album is always with us ... a continuous pleasure for the eyes and for the soul ... a pride for us to have embellished thanks to your beautiful shots our day ... Thanks again for all! With affection Valentina and Giuseppe

Dear Luca, While planning our Italian wedding from Texas, we searched online for a photographer, thinking it would be a long and difficult process. But as soon we saw your website and portfolio, there was no doubt in our minds that we had to speak with you. The creativity you show, the colors you capture, the stories you tell with your pictures - were just unique. The photos exceeded our expectations, so much so that we ended up asking for two albums, not one! On top of the wonderful pictures, your passion and dedication to work are outstanding. We want to thank you again for the patience with which you interacted with us prior to the wedding, for the way you participated in our big day taking shot after shot but never being intrusive, and for capturing each and every one of our guests - at their best. Also on our day, we thoroughly enjoyed the photo session in the villa and gardens, which gave us a chance to be with each other in a beautiful setting, almost forgetting you were with us. We treasure all of the pictures (yes even the ones you think are not perfect!) as we will always be able to remember and feel those moments again. Thank you again! Giovanna and Dan.

"Dear Panagiotis, We hope this email finds you well. Firstly, we apologise for taking so long to write - it has actually taken us this long to put into words how much we love the wedding photographs! We have spent hours and hours looking at them all, and each time it just gets better. I watch the slideshow every single day, and show it to everyone I see! Your photos are absolutely amazing. We had high hopes for them, but you have exceeded our expectations by far, and we couldn't be happier with them all. We want to thank you for your hard work - both on the day and for all the editing in the weeks after. We are so grateful for the wonderful memories you have given us. We will treasure the photos and videos forever, and are thrilled that we can keep re-living the day with all our family and friends who couldn't be there. Aside from the fantastic quality of your work, we want to thank you personally. You are a true professional and it was a pleasure to work with you, from the first day we met in Athens, until we received all the pictures here in Dubai. You have consistently reassured us with your reliability and positive attiude, your passion for your work, and your quick replies to endless emails! Your calm personality made our wedding day truly enjoyable, and it is a testament to your huge talent that you were able to take so many hundreds of photos with us barely realising you were there! Our parents share our sentiments, and also want to thank you for being the perfect wedding photographer. We wish you all the best, and hope at some point you have a chance to take a holiday and relax! Merry Christmas and a very happy New Year, Best Regards, " Chloe & Jim - Wedding in Spetses island
