Will Yurman was a judge in the 2018 v19 Photography Competition Contest
WPJA Judge since 2004 - Will Yurman, an award-winning and innovative photojournalist with more than two decades of professional experience, joined the Department of Journalism in January 2011. Before coming to Penn State, he worked 10 years as a staff photographer and multimedia producer for the Rochester (N.Y.) Democrat and Chronicle.
He previously worked for The Observer Dispatch in Utica, N.Y., as a photo editor and Gannett Rochester Newspapers as a staff photographer. He also worked three years as a freelance editorial photographer in Jerusalem, providing images for outlets such as the Baltimore Sun, the Chicago Tribune, The Miami Herald and The Washington Post. His work also appeared in Newsweek, Time, and many other publications.
For the past decade, he has been a leader in moving traditional newspaper photography from its traditional print base into the world of multimedia. He has taught at Rochester Institute of Technology and served as a lecturer at numerous professional workshops.
