Hi! My name is Lauren Barkume (she/her), and I'm a photographer, avid nature fan, and world traveler. My mission is to document joy for unique couples, families, and individuals by creating images with connection, soul and story. I believe in a world where love is our guiding force, and people are able to be fully themselves and live in the present moment. As a member of the LGBTQ+ community who's been planning her own wedding, I understand how frustrating it can be to wonder if a photographer you find online is queer-friendly, or if you will feel comfortable with being in front of their camera. I understand the barriers many people face when finding a photographer who will see them as they truly are. I welcome people of all races, sizes, ages, cultures, immigration statuses, abilities or disabilities, gender identities, LGBTQIA+, queer and more. I've been photographing weddings since 2011, and started my business when I lived in South Africa. Now I live just outside Washington D.C. where I hang out with my wife Karen and our three snuggly cats. I practice mindfulness, yoga, love to hike and forage for mushrooms, and am powered by plants. When you choose to work with me for your photography, I start with listening, with learning your story.
