From Corporate World to Capturing Joy: North Yorkshire Wedding Photographer

I photograph weddings for people who care more about how it felt than how it looked.

My style has been shaped by one simple belief: the best moments can’t be staged. They happen in the in-between. The squeeze of a hand before the ceremony. The split-second eye contact during speeches. The absolute chaos of a dance floor five songs in.

I don’t direct much. I don’t over-pose. I don’t interrupt emotion to “fix” it.
I observe, anticipate and react.

I’ve been shooting weddings for over a decade and now document around 25–30 weddings a year — from ten-person micro celebrations to full-scale, joy-filled parties. Over the course of my career, I’ve photographed hundreds of weddings, and every single one has sharpened my instinct for timing, storytelling and reading a room.

Leaning fully into documentary storytelling has felt like coming home. It’s the approach that has earned me recognition within the wedding photojournalism community, including being ranked among the Top 100 Wedding Photographers in the World by the Wedding Photojournalist Association (WPJA). For me, that recognition isn’t about perfection — it’s proof that honest, unscripted moments matter.

I didn’t train through formal apprenticeships. My education came from experience — from putting myself in real moments, studying documentary photography, and learning how to stay calm and invisible in fast-moving situations. Weddings don’t pause for you. You have to be ready.

Outside of photography, I’m grounded by my family life, my horse, dog and the countryside. I’m fascinated by people — how they connect, how they express love differently, how emotion shows up in subtle ways. That curiosity fuels everything I do.

There aren’t gallery exhibitions or art-school credentials behind my work. What drives me is something far more personal: photographs that live in albums, on walls, in the hands of future generations. Images that become more valuable with time.

If you want perfectly posed, I’m probably not your photographer.
If you want the truth of your day — I’m all in.
