Photographer Captures Timeless Wedding Memories

I love photographing people's stories; the real and the honest. Capturing life in all its glory is what photography is all about for me. We all have our own unique lives and being able to catch a glimpse of that - especially on a day as important as your wedding day - is one of the many wonderful things about what I do. I studied Media at university with a view to working in film. Movies are all about stories and that appealed to me. I never did break into the industry though; something far more magical caught my eye. Many of the skills and techniques I learned in film have been transferred into my wedding reportage work, and I like to think that my imagery has a certain cinematic feel to it. One of my friends got married straight out of university, and they asked me to shoot their wedding because they loved my movie work so much. I was familiar with stills photography as my father had always been a keen amateur, so I gave it a go and I fell in love. That was back in 2004, and since then I have fallen in love with wedding photography again and again. I love to travel and I'm happy to travel anywhere in the world to shoot a wedding.

Hi Erika. Now that the dust has settled, I wanted to take the time to write to you and thank you for the enormous role you played on our wedding day. Words don’t seem to quite cover how we feel, but I will give it a go! We weren’t sure what to expect when booking a photographer- we both hated the idea of having a camera shoved in our face all day, posing and saying cheese. As you know, this is why we chose you and felt confident with your refreshing view to photography after we met for the first time. On the day, you were totally true to your word. You managed to capture it all, with great professionalism but unobtrusively. But for me personally, I want to say that I am so grateful for the support you showed me throughout. You kept me calm and helped me get the most from the day. I know, from the few images you showed us on the day, that I will (for once in my life!) like pictures of myself because you have captured our personality more than just how we look. Erika- quite honestly, you were a guest at our wedding first and photographer second. You were a fantastic asset to us and everything you did to look after us both during the day was so greatly appreciated. Thank you so very much. Our family and friends commented on you lots also and they totally echo our sentiments. So yeah....I think it’s important to say all these things to you, because yes- we have paid for a service. But what we got in return was an amazing extra wedding guest, a great friend and a fantastic support. Thank you <3

Thanks Erika. We are hugely enjoying your photographs e.g. I spent two hours with Mum yesterday, & we still only got as far as our guests entering The Ship! Mum used words like `spectacular` in her reaction, which was very special. I am compiling my list of observations & praise each time I look through, which I will share with you. We feel we have a mountain to climb, of the best nature I might add, in deciding what we do with the photographs & how we do it. Thanks again for everything. You did us proud. Malcolm
