Elopement Photographers for Small Scotland Weddings

Shooting an elopement or small Scottish Borders wedding event is a wedding photojournalist’s dream: a fairly open schedule with lots of breathing space for creativity – it’s just the photographer, the couple, the officiant, and perhaps a few select companions.

Members are ready to document any secret, themed, town hall, or elopement wedding, even if it is a Monday-Thursday ceremony. Search for the “Can Shoot Weddings on Short Notice!” message on the listings below.

We are anxious to create a picture story chronicling your casual, religious, modern, small wedding from beginning to end. In this sense, it is no different from any other event that we have covered. The emphasis is on documenting key moments, capturing spontaneous displays of emotion, telling your real love story, as well as creating artistic portraits and details.

Welcome to Catching the Moments Photography. My name is Lukas. I describe my style in three words I would say natural, relaxed and unobtrusive. Candid moments, real emotions and reactions, tiny details you've planned for months, atmosphere, love, laughter and tears. I aim to record your wedding day as it happens, without posing or arranging anything, and most importantly without getting in your way. I believe every wedding is unique and should be treated that way. The thing is, the photos are about the day, not the other way around. Your wedding day, without directing or influencing the events. I won’t boss you around lining up for endless group shots. Instead, I will let you enjoy your wedding day with your friends and family. I won’t get in the way or tell you what to do. Instead, I will discreetly accompany you throughout the day. If that sounds like something you’re after, then you’ve come to the right place. COVERING WEDDINGS THROUGHOUT THE UK AND ABROAD Each year I shoot weddings all over Scotland and the rest of the UK, including Edinburgh, Glasgow, Perth, St Andrews, Aberdeen, the North of England and London, to name just a few. I'm also available for destination weddings. [Edinburgh Wedding Photographer]

I love photographing people's stories; the real and the honest. Capturing life in all its glory is what photography is all about for me. We all have our own unique lives and being able to catch a glimpse of that - especially on a day as important as your wedding day - is one of the many wonderful things about what I do. I studied Media at university with a view to working in film. Movies are all about stories and that appealed to me. I never did break into the industry though; something far more magical caught my eye. Many of the skills and techniques I learned in film have been transferred into my wedding reportage work, and I like to think that my imagery has a certain cinematic feel to it. One of my friends got married straight out of university, and they asked me to shoot their wedding because they loved my movie work so much. I was familiar with stills photography as my father had always been a keen amateur, so I gave it a go and I fell in love. That was back in 2004, and since then I have fallen in love with wedding photography again and again. I love to travel and I'm happy to travel anywhere in the world to shoot a wedding. Everyone always says that your wedding day is all about you. But let’s face it; that’s not always actually the case. Many couples stress over guest lists, planning, expenses, and all the frills and traditions of your standard large wedding that they may or may not even be interested in. Fortunately, though, the concept of small weddings is becoming increasingly popular for couples who either want to be able to completely customize their day where and when they want with the option...Read more
Not everyone has a lagoon or glacier next door, but there's no rule saying you can't have a small wedding in the great outdoors. Take advantage of natural sunshine and that open, airy feeling and give your guests some room to breathe! LESS IS MORE Instead of hemming your guests in on all sides, give them some elbow room, and legroom, too. There's no need to induce claustrophobia when you've got a wide, open space. Let your guests take in the view, especially if you've got a spectacular one. You...Read more

Some couples, as they begin planning for their weddings, might think that they are limited to the classic locations: churches, gardens, beaches, or even Las Vegas. But in doing so they’re missing out on a multitude of unique options that might suit their personalities much better! Why limit yourself to a quiet, quaint ceremony when your adventurous heart may be calling out for something more? An entirely different genre of wedding, so to speak, is the adventure wedding elopement. This concept...Read more

While some of us were fortunate enough to be born as extroverts, not everyone feels the same way. For a good chunk of the population, any number of the typical wedding day traditions can inspire anxiety and existential dread. This day is all about you, yes, but does that mean all the attention has to be on you as well? FROM VOWS TO CHITCHAT, WHICH REMAINS SACRED? Traditional weddings often require some degree of performance on the part of the couple, whether that is in the form of reciting...Read more

While some people live for the hustle and bustle of a big wedding with extravagant décor and an impossibly long guest list, others find these kinds of weddings to be too much hoopla, preferring instead something simpler and quieter, allowing for more intimacy between them and their fiancés on this special day. So how do you infuse your wedding with all the romance but none of the fuss? ALONE AT LAST Many couples these days are opting to elope rather than planning a large wedding. For the no-...Read more

We all know that the economy can go through some hard times, and be somewhat reminiscent of past recessions. However, as people cut back on non-essential little luxuries here and there, one constant remains: weddings. People don’t tend to just stop getting married due to a poor economy, nor should they! So, in an industry that keeps on going through thick and thin, what are some things to expect for the future, and what is really necessary to still make that wedding day memorable and...Read more

Wedding Photography of a beautiful couple just married at the Laing Art Gallery

Hi Erika. Now that the dust has settled, I wanted to take the time to write to you and thank you for the enormous role you played on our wedding day. Words don’t seem to quite cover how we feel, but I will give it a go! We weren’t sure what to expect when booking a photographer- we both hated the idea of having a camera shoved in our face all day, posing and saying cheese. As you know, this is why we chose you and felt confident with your refreshing view to photography after we met for the first time. On the day, you were totally true to your word. You managed to capture it all, with great professionalism but unobtrusively. But for me personally, I want to say that I am so grateful for the support you showed me throughout. You kept me calm and helped me get the most from the day. I know, from the few images you showed us on the day, that I will (for once in my life!) like pictures of myself because you have captured our personality more than just how we look. Erika- quite honestly, you were a guest at our wedding first and photographer second. You were a fantastic asset to us and everything you did to look after us both during the day was so greatly appreciated. Thank you so very much. Our family and friends commented on you lots also and they totally echo our sentiments. So yeah....I think it’s important to say all these things to you, because yes- we have paid for a service. But what we got in return was an amazing extra wedding guest, a great friend and a fantastic support. Thank you
