Drink coffee, chase moments, tell stories. Repeat. We are a husband and wife team who are crazy about each other, best friends, passionate followers of Christ, lovers of all things coffee, history buffs, wannabe travelers – who got our first dose of the awesomeness that is photography back in 2007. We didn’t know this adventure was on the horizon, but when it hit, man… It hit us both pretty hard and we were HOOKED. Looking back, we could never have guessed where this journey would take us. The BEST part of this adventure is navigating it together, for sure. It may sound sappy, but we are best friends who spend every day together, and for us, it just works. Way back before photography, we had separate careers, separate schedules and it just wasn’t any fun. This is definitely better. We love to have fun. In fact, it’s going to be a requirement that you do, too. We think great things can be accomplished through good old-fashioned happiness. Moment driven photography is what we’re about. An authentic image, whether sweet or silly, happy or sad, is going to stir something in you every time you see it. And THAT is what we’re ultimately hoping for the opportunity to provide you. Real images, stirring images, beautiful images. Blessings, MIKE + JULIE [Kansas Wedding Photographer]

A wedding is a special event for all involved, and children are no exception. It’s that rare occasion when they receive a glimpse into the adult world in all its ceremonial splendor. But in the thick of wedding planning, many brides and grooms often forget the little ones. Well, you need not be one of the forgetful. With a bit of...Read more

There are those couples who wouldn’t think of banning their favorite creature from their wedding, whether it is a dog, a cat, or a parakeet. They would rather drop one of their family members from the invitation list than their beloved pets. Aunt Martha, meet Bowser. Then there are the vast majority of animal lovers whose anxiety over their pets’ unpredictable behavior keeps them from extending an invitation to them. There are also those who waffle back and forth on the matter. They would love...Read more

Denis Gostev, of New York, is a wedding photographer for St. Francis Xavier Church
You can argue that of all the photos on your wedding day, the ones taken during the ceremony are the most meaningful—that’s why you’re there, right? It’s ironic, then, that wedding photojournalists regularly have the most trouble shooting their best work in the churches where these very ceremonies take place. Often times, significant moments unfold in front of camera lenses that are too far away, positioned at awkward angles, and photographers are forced to operate under...Read more
Sideline story photography at the wedding reception showing ladies drinking gin from tea cups
Some wedding photographers may feel the need to include the bride or groom in every picture, but those photos convey only part of the day's record. Most WPJA members will probably tell you that you're not fully documenting the event unless you get out there on the periphery and record the subplots of the wedding day—the unique and intersecting stories of the guests as they enjoy the festivities. We call these types of pictures “sideline shots,” and they are distinct from the standard reaction...Read more

A wedding is not just the culmination of a couple’s commitment. It’s also the final product of much planning and preparation.
