Philadelphia wedding photography by Miguel Angel

Before our start in 2012 Miguel Angel was studying film & cinematography. This attention turned to photography and he hasn't looked back since. This has led to our style being different. More drama but definitely moment based. We take on around 25-35 weddings a year as we don't want to do too many that our children don't get to know us. :-) Family is very important and shooting our kids started out as our passion first. If you like moment driven images with a little bit of drama in portraits feel free & contact us! [Philadelphia Wedding Photographer]

Pennsylvania and Philadelphia are home to wedding photographer Colleen Stepanian

My name is Colleen Stepanian. I am a freelance photographer based in Philadelphia, PA and available for travel. I've contemplated long and hard every single day since I've picked up a camera about why I do what I do and what motivates me. I think about what it means to me and about what it means to other people. There are a few reasons, some have changed, some haven't. The few that drives them all are human connection, relationships, and vulnerability. I feel I have a responsibility to photograph present reality for the sake of human history and future nostalgia. It is very easy for me to connect with people, whether it be my clients or a stranger on the street. I love knowing that through my chosen medium I am able to gain new perspectives of this life, one person at a time. I feel honored and blessed to be able to wake up every morning and tell stories through photographs. Whether you are a couple that is tying the knot, a family that wants to remember the little things, an individual that wants their story to be heard, or you're with a non profit that needs an event covered, I want to hear from you. New Jersey Wedding Photography by Kelly Giardina

My photography story did not exactly start as early as Nick’s. I started by joining Nick on a few jobs and assisting him because I simply missed him on weekends. As I worked with Nick on a few weddings I realized how much I loved it and how my view of things, that were happening around me, was changing. I decided to pick up a camera one wedding, and I have never put it down. Something about capturing such an important day, while having a blast with the person you love most in the world next to me, had me hooked! That and I loved making sure people did not get crappy photos like mine! I was also very lucky because shooting became second nature to me before I knew it. I am a nosy person by nature and I always say the camera has given me an excuse to be this way without being creepy. Needless to say, my style is very much photo-journalistic. A previous client said I was like a ninja sniper with my camera and I could not have received a better compliment. As for the rest of my life, I love being a wife, mother, spreadsheets, being organized, a clean house, planning events, Reality TV and Pizza Hut. (Shhh, I come from an Italian family so don’t tell my Grandma) The math is simple. Nick+Kelly=Great Team. We hope that we've offered a little peek into our family and that we haven't scared you too much! We look forward to getting to know you and yours. Thank you for considering us for your special occasion! [New Jersey Wedding Photographer]

Michelle M. Peters, a WPJA wedding photographer from PA, was focusing on her creative side at a young age.

Michelle Peters began focusing on her multiple creativities at a young age, but did not get involved in the photography area until a pro photojournalist offered her a mentorship, after she finished her education at the Pennsylvania State University. She was guided into Wedding Photojournalism and loves to capture all the moments of your special day, while maintaining an unobtrusive view. Although she still likes to hide in her 'secret studio' and shoot macro, her joy is now shooting the joy of your wedding day! [State College Wedding Photographer]

I am a former newspaper photographer & I started my wedding photography studio in 2001. I have photographed hundreds of weddings. As a former photojournalist, my goal is to document the real moments of your wedding, along with creative portraits. I’m always happy to do family photos and think that the process should be short & sweet so that you can enjoy the day. When starting the studio, my objective was to offer amazing images & great service. This continues to be the cornerstone of my business philosophy. [Washington DC Wedding Photographer]

Harrisburg wedding photography by Scott Josuweit of Pennsylvania

I focus on capturing important moments in the most authentic and creative ways possible so my couples can be the rockstars that they are. None of my weddings look exactly the same because I treat each wedding like it should be: unique. Your wedding day isn't my personal photoshoot. I want the two of you to truly enjoy your engagement and wedding and live in those moments. In my spare time, you'll probably find me drinking some delicious craft beer, stuffing my face with local food, and spending time with my friends and family. Traveling is one of my favorite things to do. My fiancé and I traveled to Ireland in 2017, western Canada in 2018, and toured all of the southern US in 2019. I love dogs but became more of a cat person when I adopted an adorable gray tabby cat named Chloe seven years ago. I'm an adrenaline junkie. I've been skydiving, ziplining, whitewater rafting, and much more. I live for the thrill! [Harrisburg Wedding Photographer]

Wedding Photojournalism Beauty Photos of the bride crossing her eyes as she reacts to her dress being buttoned up from behind
The bride steps into her wedding gown. Her mother and a coterie of bridesmaids assist her with the final touches on her hair and makeup. They primp and preen at her gown, perhaps contributing something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue. Today, the vast majority of brides invite their photographer to document the “getting ready” period, and for good reason. Getting ready can be a monumental task for the bride and her entourage, and an event in itself. It...Read more
A woman holds a little girl's hand while the bride kneels down and smiles at her before the ceremony in this wedding photo | Children photography at weddings.
The start of the great divide between the sexes can be witnessed a lot earlier in life than most believe. Girls and boys participating in weddings around the world demonstrate this time and time again. Frequently, little girls will relish the opportunity to dress up in their finest, while the boys do so begrudgingly, kicking and screaming all the way to the altar, so to speak. However, it doesn’t take long before that divide is bridged, and children are children again, with neither girls nor...Read more

But just ask any talented pro, and you’ll get a grateful explanation as to why it’s so important to truly understand their creative process. How you manage your relationship with a wedding photographer can have just as profound an...Read more
Wedding Photography of Parents - ceremony image showing the handover by the father of the bride to the groom
In the 1950 classic film Father of the Bride , George, played by Spenser Tracy, watches his daughter Annie, played by Elizabeth Taylor, take her wedding vows and says to himself, “I realized at that moment that I was never going to come home again and see Annie at the top of the stairs. Never going to see her again at our breakfast table in her nightgown and socks...Annie was all grown up and leaving us, and something inside began to hurt.” The scene may be fiction, but the emotion behind it is...Read more
Sideline story photography at the wedding reception showing ladies drinking gin from tea cups
Some wedding photographers may feel the need to include the bride or groom in every picture, but those photos convey only part of the day's record. Most WPJA members will probably tell you that you're not fully documenting the event unless you get out there on the periphery and record the subplots of the wedding day—the unique and intersecting stories of the guests as they enjoy the festivities. We call these types of pictures “sideline shots,” and they are distinct from the standard reaction...Read more
