Alex, Zara, and their baby daughter arrive for their wedding ceremony at the Hull Guildhall.
I photographed Zara and Alex's small wedding last year. Zara is a florist so she works in the wedding industry. Alex is a tattoo artist. The day was so beautifully intimate. It was also unique. It's not often I am able to photograph a bride being tattooed by her groom minutes after the wedding ceremony.
I have included only documentary moments. No posing or staging. This is how we always work and why I love photographing weddings.
I think this is one of my favorite weddings ever and just goes to show that intimate occasions can be just as beautiful as larger weddings.
Zara and Alex's wedding ring exchange, a really tender moment.
Just married, Zara and Alex walk out of the ceremony excitedly. You can glimpse the small number of guests and the registrar in the background.
Zara is congratulated by her mother, as one of the witnesses captures the moment on a phone.
Zara and Alex go for a drive together alone (with me tagging along in the back!)
Zara is tattooed by her new husband Alex, on their wedding day. What a way to celebrate!
Zara tenderly places her hand on the back Alex's neck as he is tattooed.
Zara crosses an eerily empty road, which is usually busy. Zara is on the way back to the car. Alex - out of shot - is catching up as he left his car keys at the tattoo studio. He calls after Zara and she turns, smiling, back to him.
She is wearing a high street dress from Asos, holding a bouquet she made herself, as well as wearing self-customized shoes.
