Sean and Casper have been best friends since they were 12. In the years since that first meeting, the two have supported each through laughter and tears, difficult transitions and personal resurrections.
It’s not surprising that along their journey, they found themselves attracted to each other in many ways. At age 16, they began to date and in their early twenties, they were ready to tie the knot.
The two chose to attend the same college, the University of Georgia. And while there, the Presbyterian Student Center became a second home to them. Some might consider this surprising since Sean is an agnostic. But agnosticism aside, it was the center’s welcoming and affirming stance towards the LGBTQ+ community that drew the couple to the space.
So it came as no surprise that Sean and Casper chose the center as the venue for their wedding. The ceremony took place in the courtyard next to the center, which was decorated with string lights, a favorite of theirs, for the grand occasion.
It also came as no surprise that Sean’s service dog Otis, who had been at his side, during the years he and Casper were getting to know each other, was the ring bearer for the wedding. To make things even more fun, Sean and Casper invited friends to bring their dogs, as well.
Cali N Tito’s Restaurant, their favorite place to eat and hang out while in school, catered their dinner at their reception.
One of the most exiting parts of getting married, according to the couple, was that they were able stand in front of friends and family and celebrate “the liberation of being themselves.”
