Photo of a couple who got married in their backyard in Nederland, Colorado
Close friends goofed off with the couple all day, giving them well-wishing bum-pats on the way through the tunnel of hands.
Sarah and Jake chose to get married in their backyard in Nederland, Colorado one summer. They wanted everything to be as simple as possible, with no frills or unnecessary spending. They spent the entire day together, so they could laugh and be their goofy selves the entire time. They invited close family and friends to walk through the woods into a small natural clearing, where they said their vows with lots of humor.
They can safely say they are the only ones to ever get married in that little spot! It rained a few times before the ceremony, but luckily the couple had planned to host a chili-cook off reception inside their garage to accommodate everyone. You'd think a garage would be the last place you could hold a beautiful reception, but they transformed the space in dreamy lights and tables with benches that Jake cut & felled himself. Their wedding reflected their ideals of bringing family together, combining laughter and fun with beautiful scenery, and filling an ordinary space with extraordinary love.

It began to rain so we headed for the shade of the woods - but truly this didn't help at all as the tall pines didn't provide as much cover as we'd hoped. We ended up getting soaked but needed to capture a moment of the rain in the trees.
