Frozen couple portraits on a wind swept Lake at sunset

Winter frozen wind swept Lake sunset portraits after elopement ceremony

In a few minutes between the ceremony and dinner back at their rental, the couple headed out onto a very frozen, and wind swept, Echo Lake for some sunset portraits.

Alexis and Max dreamt of a winter wedding and they certainly got that in abundance! Their wedding was scheduled for a day in February in Acadia National Park - what they didn't count on was two back to back snow storms that shut down the better half of the airlines in the country! They had planned a small elopement but it got even smaller than originally planned. Alexis and Max made the most of their day even when the wind chill had the temps in the 0 degree range!

The couple celebrated their nuptuals with a "First Sled" instead of a first dance and then invited all of their guests to join them on classic Maine LL. Bean tobbogans and flying saucer discs. Instead of a champagne toast they opted for hot cocoa with marshmallows Alexis made herself - shaped like snowflakes!

After their ceremony and sledding, the couple ventured out onto the frozen Echo Lake for a few portraits before heading back to the warmth of their rental and a personal chef catered dinner to celebrate.
