I spent a picture-perfect mid-May afternoon celebrating Lauren and Ian's elopement at Crane Beach in Ipswich, Massachusetts. It was just the couple, the bride's 3 young sons, and the officiant who was the groom's best friend.
From the beach parking lot, we headed out to decide on a quiet spot away from all the beachgoers to hold the ceremony. A few hundred yards down the beach we settled on a perfect location. The boys played in the sand as kids do and the bride and groom exchanged some of the most heartfelt vows I've heard in years - it was very moving. I just loved how invested in each other the bride and groom were in that moment and how invested in digging the boys were at that very same moment. A very cool juxtaposition that I'll never forget.
We then moved on to some portraits for as long as the boys would sit still (not long) and then some couple portraits while the kids ran around to their hearts' content. All of this in one of the most beautiful settings around - definitely one of my favorite events I've covered as a photographer.
