The WPJA contest judges presented Dan Harris, a Florida, United States wedding photographer, with this Master Piece Award as recognition for top wedding photojournalism in the industry.
The leading documentary wedding photographers in the world enter their best photos to the Wedding Photojournalist Association's photography competitions. They want their wedding reportage photographs to be evaluated and selected by some of the most notable and respected working picture editors and photojournalists in the news industry (these are not wedding photographers or other WPJA members judging their work). Winning these competitions is a true accomplishment for a wedding photographer.

Photographing a wedding requires the photographer to be 'on the ready' at all times to capture the unexpected and expressive moments that make the day so special. When the bridesmaid told the bride to smell the flowers everyone in the room assumed the sweet smell of the fragrant bouquet would bring a look of happiness to the brides face, but with her recent cold and stuffy nose --extra effort was required to get the fragrance to register. This unexpected expression delights all viewers and brings the bride back to that exact moment when everything at her wedding was perfect --except her nose.
