5th place in Creative Portraits

Wedding photographer Matt Barton, was awarded 5th place for photo 53941 in the Creative Portraits category for the WPJA's 2007 Q1.

The WPJA contest judges presented Matt Barton, a wedding photographer, with this Master Piece Award as recognition for top wedding photojournalism in the industry.

The leading documentary wedding photographers in the world enter their best photos to the Wedding Photojournalist Association's photography competitions. They want their wedding reportage photographs to be evaluated and selected by some of the most notable and respected working picture editors and photojournalists in the news industry (these are not wedding photographers or other WPJA members judging their work). Winning these competitions is a true accomplishment for a wedding photographer.

  • Nice use of props and location to give a little insight/humor into these folks' lives. The bride looks like she could have been a bride in the '60s (perhaps an homage to Bob Dylan?) and the groom looks like he could be straight out of the country. The barn doors offer some nice graphic elements as do the hand-painted signs.
