4th place in Getting Ready
The WPJA contest judges presented Julie Gelfand, a United States wedding photographer, with this Master Piece Award as recognition for top wedding photojournalism in the industry.
The leading documentary wedding photographers in the world enter their best photos to the Wedding Photojournalist Association's photography competitions. They want their wedding reportage photographs to be evaluated and selected by some of the most notable and respected working picture editors and photojournalists in the news industry (these are not wedding photographers or other WPJA members judging their work). Winning these competitions is a true accomplishment for a wedding photographer.

- There is so much action, color, energy and decoration yet the boy is utterly bored. He is slouching in his nice suite. It is a great moment. This photo captures all the action of the last-minute details leading up to a solemn wedding ceremony. It's a moment that exists before just about every wedding but we rarely see it captured so well. The boy can't quite seem to grasp what all the fuss is about. The little boy looks so uncomfortable and out-of-place amongst all the bridesmaids - comical!
