• The composition is striking and lends itself to all sorts of metaphoric attachment. The portholes suggest that all the “eyes” will soon be upon this bride whose veil glows like an aura. The photographer shows us the bride's hand, ready to open the door and make her grand entrance. The photo is striking in its stark simplicity. The blinding white beyond the doors makes one wonder what the bride is looking at. Meanwhile, her veil and dress and bow stand out against the dark doors, and though we don't see all of her outfit we get a good sense of what it's like. Simple, graphic, undemanding image portrays the symbolic instant one door closes and another opens to the rest of your life. This picture has so much going for it. It's perfectly composed, it's graphic, it's rich in texture and it's rich in symbolism. The bride is about to enter into her new world. The portholes on the doors symbolize the eyes of that world, as all eyes are upon the bride on her wedding day. The bride's hand, barely visible, seems hesitant to open the door. This picture so beautifully captures the inner conflict we all face when set out on a new path in life. Are we ready? Are we making the right choice? Time will tell.
