The leading documentary wedding photographers in the world enter their best photos to the Wedding Photojournalist Association's photography competitions. They want their wedding reportage photographs to be evaluated and selected by some of the most notable and respected working picture editors and photojournalists in the news industry (these are not wedding photographers or other WPJA members judging their work). Winning these competitions is a true accomplishment for a wedding photographer.

  • This is a really wonderful moment. The light works exactly right. They come together to make this boy look really outside the party. I kind of wish the picture weren't tilted. I won't second-guess the photographer, because there may have been something distracting to keep out of the frame by tilting. Too often, however, we think that if we tilt a frame we can make a boring picture interesting, or a mundane picture profound. Tilting does neither. It's not a bad thing to do, of course. Sometimes it works to reinforce the mood or message of a photo. But random tilting is just distracting for photographer and viewer alike.
