2nd place in Emotion
The WPJA contest judges presented Alessandro Colle, a Massa-Carrara, Italy wedding photographer, with this Master Piece Award as recognition for top wedding photojournalism in the industry.
The leading documentary wedding photographers in the world enter their best photos to the Wedding Photojournalist Association's photography competitions. They want their wedding reportage photographs to be evaluated and selected by some of the most notable and respected working picture editors and photojournalists in the news industry (these are not wedding photographers or other WPJA members judging their work). Winning these competitions is a true accomplishment for a wedding photographer.

- This photograph also makes me feel for this boy. Great expression and his little lips are just heart-breaking. The rest of the frame draws me in as well, without distracting me from the main subject.
- One can imagine this boy is the bride’s son but whether true or not the moment is unchanged. I love the way she cradles his head against her body and the uncanny way that much emotion can be isolated regardless of potentially distracting elements. In fact, everything in the photo work as means to an end to reveal a poignant moment as though we were there.
