1st place in Ceremony
The WPJA contest judges presented Daniele Torella, a Roma, Italy wedding photographer, with this Master Piece Award as recognition for top wedding photojournalism in the industry.
The leading documentary wedding photographers in the world enter their best photos to the Wedding Photojournalist Association's photography competitions. They want their wedding reportage photographs to be evaluated and selected by some of the most notable and respected working picture editors and photojournalists in the news industry (these are not wedding photographers or other WPJA members judging their work). Winning these competitions is a true accomplishment for a wedding photographer.

- A simple gesture, yet so story telling of how this couple related to one another. Elegant and well composed. The photographer used the room to not only frame the couple but add to the grandness of the moment, the weight of what was going to happen.
- A warm and tender moment by a photographer who had enough access to the scene to be able to find it. This image has an element of quiet grace. Images like this express the important role of having an excellent photographer skillfully recording a moment in time.
