1st place in Reception
The WPJA contest judges presented Davide Dusnasco, a Italy wedding photographer, with this Master Piece Award as recognition for top wedding photojournalism in the industry.
The leading documentary wedding photographers in the world enter their best photos to the Wedding Photojournalist Association's photography competitions. They want their wedding reportage photographs to be evaluated and selected by some of the most notable and respected working picture editors and photojournalists in the news industry (these are not wedding photographers or other WPJA members judging their work). Winning these competitions is a true accomplishment for a wedding photographer.

- Sometimes, as a photographer, you just get a gift. This was one of those times. Very nice shot. I loved how the photographer framed the sleeping man between the knights.
- I love this brilliant juxtaposition of bodies at ease with the stoic iron-clad (and in this case, ironic) warriors behind them. But none of this would truly work without the rather whimsical symmetrical composition and the monochromatic shades of tile, curtains, wicker and pillows. The image coyly suggests the contrast of the universal call to duty versus the call of, well... anything else. Or as the apostle Matthew explains to Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane, “The spirit is willing but the flesh is weak.”
