1st place in Emotion
The WPJA contest judges presented Morgan Lynn Razi, a Texas, United States wedding photographer, with this Master Piece Award as recognition for top wedding photojournalism in the industry.
The leading documentary wedding photographers in the world enter their best photos to the Wedding Photojournalist Association's photography competitions. They want their wedding reportage photographs to be evaluated and selected by some of the most notable and respected working picture editors and photojournalists in the news industry (these are not wedding photographers or other WPJA members judging their work). Winning these competitions is a true accomplishment for a wedding photographer.

- The moment just before a hug. Bride's face and body language shows that anticipated hug.
- The outstretched arms and the expression on the bride's face says it all. While I’m not usually a fan of tilted horizons, it works in this photo since it helps to crop out what would have been a bright and very distracting light on the right side of the frame.
- It’s all here, the waiting embrace, the bride fighting back tears. This photo communicates the mood and feel of the moment in a universal moment of kindredness.
