8th place in Toasting
The WPJA contest judges presented Federico Fasano, a Italy wedding photographer, with this Master Piece Award as recognition for top wedding photojournalism in the industry.
The leading documentary wedding photographers in the world enter their best photos to the Wedding Photojournalist Association's photography competitions. They want their wedding reportage photographs to be evaluated and selected by some of the most notable and respected working picture editors and photojournalists in the news industry (these are not wedding photographers or other WPJA members judging their work). Winning these competitions is a true accomplishment for a wedding photographer.

- This is such a fun and creative way to do a toast! Who needs to drink their own glass or even twist arms with just one other person when you can do it with a large group? It works especially well because the photographer chose to shoot this scene from above. Effective angle and sense of warm camaraderie make this a pleasing photograph. Cropping the distracting element on the left would strengthen it. Getting up high and close brings an intimacy to this photograph, as if the viewer is part of the entangled arms as well.
