1st place in Dancing
The WPJA contest judges presented Buffy Goodman, a Alberta, Canada wedding photographer, with this Master Piece Award as recognition for top wedding photojournalism in the industry.
The leading documentary wedding photographers in the world enter their best photos to the Wedding Photojournalist Association's photography competitions. They want their wedding reportage photographs to be evaluated and selected by some of the most notable and respected working picture editors and photojournalists in the news industry (these are not wedding photographers or other WPJA members judging their work). Winning these competitions is a true accomplishment for a wedding photographer.

- At one a.m. on day five of this Sikh wedding, the party was still going strong. The groom, flanked by friends, jumped on a table to sing along to a Bollywood favorite, while smoke machines puffed away. Standing in the middle of the dance floor, Goodman kept shooting despite a jostling camera, and didn’t realize she’d gotten this picture until the next day. Looking like a movie set, the perfect timing exhibited in this photo is illustrated by the body motion and facial expression in each “actor” in this scene…a really perfect moment.
