The WPJA contest judges presented Janet Hudson Schroeder, a Oklahoma, United States wedding photographer, with this Master Piece Award as recognition for top wedding photojournalism in the industry.
The leading documentary wedding photographers in the world enter their best photos to the Wedding Photojournalist Association's photography competitions. They want their wedding reportage photographs to be evaluated and selected by some of the most notable and respected working picture editors and photojournalists in the news industry (these are not wedding photographers or other WPJA members judging their work). Winning these competitions is a true accomplishment for a wedding photographer.

- Adults aren't the only ones who watch expectantly for the bride and groom to appear. This little flower girls seems anxious to start the proceedings. What a sweetheart! This photograph has several things working for it. The composition is just about perfect. The girl is framed between the open doors. The doors themselves are dark toned and nicely contrast the girl's pink face and white dress. The look on her face makes this a story-telling photograph rather than simply a portrait
